Months ago I had felt discouraged, I didn't feel like doing anything other than staying in bed all day. Most of the time I was worried, anxious, losing sleep trying to find solutions to all my problems; I even woke up every morning as if I were a robot doing things in a mechanized way and without enjoying them. For some reason, the smile on my face had faded like the wind.
Between home and work responsibilities, I completely neglected my mental health; there were days when I tried to hide my true feelings so as not to distress my loved ones. My story may seem familiar to you; That is why I have decided to write about the importance of taking care of mental health since without it it is possible to feel good.
Now, we all know that it is advisable to visit the doctor twice a year to carry out a general check-up, have a balance in diet and exercise on a daily basis. They are essential tips that we must follow to the letter to have good physical health. But unfortunately following these tips will not be enough to feel good; since it is also necessary to take care of the feelings, the emotions and the thoughts; that way you can have a balance in life.
Health is everything
Health encompasses everything, both being in good physical and mental condition ; it is impossible that they do not go hand in hand. For this reason, it is advisable to take the following into account:
1 There is only one priority and that is you
Many people sacrifice their own needs in order to satisfy the needs demanded by their loved ones, forgetting about themselves. It is a common thing to do, since the family is the most valuable treasure we have. However, it is important to reflect on the importance of being well yourself; because if you don't feel good first, it is impossible for your family to be.
I am not saying that you become a selfish person, but that you change the way you think and act. Remember that you also have needs and the right to feel calm, full and happy. Take time to do what you like the most, it is time to pamper yourself and make yourself a priority. Think of it like this, if you feel good about yourself, your family will be too.
2 A touch to your life
We all have to fulfill millions of responsibilities and obligations that we cannot put aside; however, you can break the routine by doing different things. For example, if you are used to working in silence, listening to music is a good idea; If you are used to cooking for your family, it will be good to invite them to eat elsewhere.
It's about doing the things you are used to, but adding another touch to your routine; It's very simple, just find something you like and do it together; so you can feel good.
3 A social life
It is common that when you are not in good mental health you begin to withdraw from your friends, for the simple reason that you do not have the courage to go out or talk to them. However, you will have to make an effort and resume your social life, by doing so believe me it will help you feel good. Give yourself time to go out with your friends to go for coffee or invite them to your house, so you can listen to other types of conversations that will distract you from your problems.
If you can't, then call them, send them text messages, and try to have constant communication with your friends. Remember that friends will always be there to help you through good times and bad, so take advantage of that opportunity.
4 Manage your thoughts
Everyone, absolutely everyone goes through bad times in life. Sometimes we think that our problems are so great that no one can understand us. However, when you think about every adversity and difficult situation, you will find something positive. Remember, there will always be lessons we have to learn and many are learned from the mistakes we make. So manage your thoughts, of everything negative that you can find in your life, transform it into positive.
Stop complaining and victimizing yourself, since life is only one. Strive to change every thought that is hurting you and find the good in life; ask yourself what do I have to learn from this situation?
5 Learn to have fun
Discover new abilities, skills, tastes, and hobbies. Go out and explore the world and dare to do things you never thought you could do. Start little by little by finding an interest in something that catches your attention, it can be anything, for example: painting, reading, drawing, doing crafts, cooking, exploring a forest, finding tutorials to learn how to do makeup, etc.
Learn to have fun and laugh; forget about stress and problems for a while, take time to do what you like the most.
6 Contact with nature
Being sedentary and being at home all the time is not a good idea to maintain good mental health. So put the batteries to have contact with the outside world; Aim to go for an hour a day for a walk, for example: walk your pets or spend time with your children playing in the park, that way you can observe the wonderful things the world has to offer.
Remember that all problems have a solution, the more you continue to victimize, complain and worry about the adversities of life, you will be damaging your mental and physical health. Think of yourself and your well-being; take care of your health by putting these tips into practice.
