Every morning through his window a dim light was reflected, the sun was coming out to start a new day. You could hear the happy melody of the birds and there was a scent of flowers and damp earth. Her husband, who slept next to her, woke her up with a sweet kiss on the forehead and with a "very good morning love"; even her children entered her room jumping on her bed full of joy to hug her.
Apparently, his life was fortunate, he had a loving family, a profitable job, and he was in good health; However, she could not smile for an instant, her eyes filled with tears and she only wished in the depths of her heart to continue sleeping and never wake up again. Most of the time she was sad, melancholic, unhappy, and dejected, as much as she tried to smile and be better, something inside her did not allow it.
Little by little she lost her appetite, she slept as long as possible because she felt tired and without energy; Suddenly the pleasure of doing her favorite activities diminished and the saddest thing is that she unconsciously used to criticize herself, hating herself, with a feeling of guilt, hopelessness, and abandonment.
Pain in the heart
According to specialists, one of the most frequent clinical problems that affect anyone is depression. This mood disorder causes a feeling of deep sadness, sometimes without explanation or apparent cause, and if it is not diagnosed in time, the consequences can be irreversible, even threatening one's life.
It is common to ignore some symptoms of depression since it is very natural to experience feelings of sadness; However, these emotions appear for long periods of time without disappearing, affecting physical and mental health.
The magic that you did not know
Accepting that depression is present in your life is one of the first steps to heal since it will allow you to analyze those negative aspects that you may ignore and that invade your thoughts, feelings, and emotions; It will even allow you to reflect and identify those situations that make you feel sad.
After recognizing that you have a depression problem, it will be the ideal time to recover your life, your mental, physical and social health; You will even learn gradually and with professional help to face and solve the problems that arise, changing all negative thoughts for more realistic and positive ones.
To help you with the healing process, I share some tips:
1 you are not alone
Many people believe that getting out of depression does not require help since the consequences are ignored; however, it is important to rely on specialists, since healing is a slow and gradual process that often requires medications and therapies, and it is not only cured with goodwill.
Sometimes the doctor needs to find the right drug and the exact dose for each patient since we are all different. Therefore, it is advisable to ask for help, with the certainty that you are not alone.
2 Small achievements
Setting real little goals will go a long way toward fighting depression. For example: finishing with a task, a drawing, or anything else that you have left unfinished, even cleaning your room, reading a book, watching a movie, etc. When you finish and fulfill your daily purpose, you will feel a sense of satisfaction and well-being.
3 On the move
Any high and low impact exercise is extremely beneficial, since when performed, endorphin levels increase, improving self-esteem, mood, and energy. Specialists claim that physical activity has an antidepressant effect.
Start by walking near your house, riding a bike, jumping rope, or something you like, despite not wanting to do anything. Remember that it is little by little.
4 Pets
Having a pet at home is a good option to combat depression; With their company and physical contact, they will help you not feel alone, even more, secure and protected.
It is inevitable to stop caring for pets, which is why it will be a good reason to get out of bed, in addition to that the contact will help you increase oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine (hormones responsible for pleasure) when you caress them.
5 You first
Learn to pamper yourself to feel good about yourself, since when you feel sad it is easy to completely neglect yourself, not only in the image but also in the desire to wash or eat.
Keep in mind that only you can do something for you, so don't stop spoiling yourself; buy yourself a favorite gift or treat, go to the movies, read a story, do whatever makes you feel good.
6 a little sun
To combat depression, it is advisable to go out and sunbathe, since light causes an increase in serotonin levels, improving your mood.
It is not necessary that you spend all day under the sun's rays, if you leave your house or sit in a place where you receive the heat of the sun for about 15 minutes a day, you can feel better.
7 Listen to music
Studies affirm that music therapy is an effective treatment to combat depression and anxiety, improving mood, and reducing stress. For this reason, I advise you to listen to music all the time; preferably choose happy or relaxing melodies that make you dance, sing, and forget about stress.
Remember that depression is a disorder that requires professional help to heal; It is not something that is relieved overnight, it is a process that takes time. Start by making some changes in your habits, lifestyle, and environment, so you can feel better.
